报告人:象伟宁是美国北卡罗来那大学夏洛特分校地理与地球科学系终身教授,华东师范大学紫江讲座教授。1982年毕业于北京师范大学地理系, 获理学士学位, 并留校任教于自然地理教研室。1986年获美国麻萨诸塞大学区域规划学硕士学位, 1989年获加州大学伯克利分校城市与区域规划学博士学位。1989年到1990年, 在加州大学伯克利分校的都市与区域发展研究所从事博士后研究。

内容简介:It is imperative that scientists, especially geo-scientists, understand and take their societal as well as scholarly responsibilities in their academic activities. Not only should their work be contributive to the advancement of scientific knowledge, but it should also be useful to sound planning and decision-making. Under this general framework, this presentation discusses the environment in which landscape ecologists conduct research; explores the relationships among the processes of landscape analysis, planning, and decision-making; describes the roles geographic information techniques play in supporting each and every process and in connecting all three. It uses a riparian buffer study in North Carolina, USA, to illustrate a scientific research, when conducted consciously, can benefit all the three processes.
